We are very pleased to be presenting to you Brill's inaugural American Studies Newsletter. We look forward to sharing with you the latest news on our numerous books, journals and primary source publications that can be included in this newsletter, which is long overdue. As well as showcasing new titles in our existing American Studies book series and journals, such as ourAtlantic World series and the Journal of Early American History (JEAH), this new, quarterly bulletin will allow us to share with you the latest news on our growing American Studies list.

For the past year, Brill has been actively pursuing new publication opportunities within the field of American Studies. With the establishment of a new publication list called the History of North American Relations with the Pacific Rim, we have had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to an entirely new sector of academia in the Americas, and are eager to develop new relationships with these fascinating scholars, with the hope that this will allow Brill to provide you with the latest and most innovative research on American Studies for years to come.

Stay tuned for announcements on new journals and exciting new book titles in the coming months. We welcome your thoughts, comments and questions on this newsletter; these can be directed to Nozomi at goto@brill.com

NEWS

Call for manuscripts for Brill's new book series: Southeast Asian Diasporas in the Americas (SEAD).

Attendant to the rise of the Southeast Asian diaspora in North America, Southeast Asian Diasporas in the Americas (SEAD) provides a peer-reviewed forum for studies that specifically investigate the histories and experiences of Southeast Asian diasporic subjects in North America. We especially welcome studies - inclusive of original monographs, article collections, and primary source translations - that critically focus on the Southeast Asian experience in North America from transnational, comparative, or international perspectives.

SEAD welcomes submissions from a wide array of disciplinary fields (including history, sociology, political science, cultural studies, literary studies, and anthropology, among others) that present innovative readings of recurring subjects in the field, including refugees, political asylum, gender/sexuality, colonialism, globalization, empire, nation/nationalism, ethnicity, and transnationalism. Manuscripts (preferably in English) should be at least 90,000 words in length (including end notes and works cited).

Manuscripts may also include illustrations, tables, and other visual material. The editors would be interested to receive proposals for specialist monographs and syntheses, but may also consider multi-authored contributions such as conference proceedings, and thematic issues, and source translations and edited texts.

For submission queries, contact Nozomi Goto
